Tendring District Council Seal of Approval
At the end of February we were pleased to host a meeting at Mistley Manor for councillors from Tendring District Council, who were visiting on a fact finding mission.
The councillors were extremely impressed with what they saw here and the following press release was sent to the local press:
MISTLEY MANOR – A VISION FOR FUTURE CARE OF THE ELDERLY
A new care home in Mistley has been hailed as a vision for the future and a model for others to follow.
Tendring District Council (TDC) identified the care and assisted living sector as a major source of employment growth going forward as part of its Economic Development Strategy.
Leader Mick Page, Chairman Val Guglielmi and Cabinet Member for Planning and Corporate Services Carlo Guglielmi went on a fact-finding mission to Mistley Manor to look at one of the newest developments in the District.
Cllr Page, who is also Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Inward Investment, said it was a chance to look round the multi-million pound investment.
“What we saw was a 60-bed property which also had four supported care bungalows which we were told operated at a similar cost to a conventional care home,” he said.
“It was hi-tech, with energy saving measures and designed to keep people living independently for longer.
“It really is the way forward and a vision for all to strive for in the future – it felt more like a five star hotel.”
Cllr Page said that not only was it an ideal environment for the residents but also for the staff.
“There is no doubt that the care and assisted living sector – along with all the suppliers to the industry – will make up a significant proportion of jobs growth in Tendring,” he added.
“Mistley Manor is an example of what care homes can look like in the 21st century.”
